A long term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles are clogging with dead skin and oil is called acne. Genetics is thought to be the cause of this case. Acne is bacteria in skin that releases fatty acids that triggers inflammation. Most people with acne are aged 12 to 25. Older and younger people aged 25 years old are also affected. Research says that boys are more commonly affected than girls. Acne usually occurs at the back, neck, chest and face. Acne isn’t a serious health risk, but they can cause permanent scars if it’s severe. The resulting appearance of these can lead to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

Causes

  • They say that if your parents have acne, you may inherit it from them.
  • Medicines for epilepsy, lithium, and prednisone can cause acne.
  • The greasy consistency may clog pores likely to cause acne.
  • Cells produce sebum that has receptors for stress hormones.
  • Acne bacteria multiply rapidly.

  5. Sweating heavily. Extra sweat contributes to blocking pores.
  6. Anabolic steroids.

Prevention to acne

  • Keep Face Clean. Always wash your face with soap after being exposed in public, usually after traveling.
  • Moisturizers are used to minimize dryness and peeling of the skin.
  • Try an over-the-counter acne product. Acne products have ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or lactic acid. Use these products with caution for sensitive skin.
  • Use make-up sparingly. Avoid wearing make-up during acne breakout.
  • Keep your hands off your face. Avoid touching your cheek on your hands, because aside from spreading the bacteria you can also irritate them.
  • Stay out of the sun. Sun’s ultraviolet rays can increase inflammation and redness that can cause hyperpigmentation.
  • Feed your skin. According to researchers, chocolates don’t cause pimples. Eat more fruits and vegetables to your diet.
  • Daily exercise.
  • Visit your doctor if you need more treatment to stop acne.

 

Treatment for acne

1.       Benzoyl peroxide – It kills bacteria and unplugging oil.
  1. Retin-A – Available with doctor’s prescription. It may cause the skin to peel.
  2. Antibiotics – It helps kill bacteria and avoid acne.
  3. Accutane – Only available with a doctor’s prescription. It is intended for people with severe scarring and uncontrolled acne.
